SONGS located in San Clemente, CA was decommissioned and dismantled. C&W provided diver support to isolate the onshore intake structure from the Pacific Ocean. Diver support was required to remove/clean/reinstall bulkheads with inflatable seals. C&W was contracted to engineer and design a grout bag support structure and a 30’x16’x16’ grout bag. C&W removed all marine growth from the outfall tunnel and installed a steel support structure. Divers performed a 300 yd+ concrete pour to fill the custom-engineered ballistic nylon plug with a support structure to permanently seal the nuclear cooling system from the Pacific Ocean.
